(See next post down for 'How To Lead Lively Workshops' :-) )
There's nothing like getting up high somewhere to gain perspective, metaphorically and literally, both. This view from a mountain path among the heather along the North Wales coast illustrates the point perfectly(click on photo to enlarge) I was sitting there with my notebook working out a few things and it was great, very helpful.
I had to go back down and carry on with what I needed to do, but I took with me broader thinking than the narrow track of thought i had been on.
We all do, of course, have to get on with the details and focus on specifics, but we have to balance that with gaining the 'big picture' from time to time.
So what could you do to...
....... get yourself up somewhere higher for a look around? Of course if you are working in a tall building you may be able to see far and wide from where you are now - but it still may be beneficial to take the lift up a different building for a different view. Otherwise, climb a hill, find a vantage point, take the lift to the top, get out onto the flat roof, whatever. How would it be to take your notebook to collect new thoughts?
It might be refreshing. It might give you new motivation and sense of purpose when you get back down to your detailed work on specific tasks.
