This grand old tree is at the entrance to where I'm studying - www.hippocrateshealthinstitute.com - and it strikes me that it is a very appropriate tree.
I don't know much about it but it looks like a collection of separate trees that have grown together to form one, rather like the people here who work in individual ways and who have created a very unified staff. Talk about 'Engagement in the Workplace', everyone I've talked to here, ground staff, kitchen staff, shop staff, admin, lecturers and therapists loves working here, not just 'likes' it. There's practical engagement as they go to work with a will and a smile, emotional engagement as they relate to each other and their guests,us, emotional engagement as they have their hearts in their work and intellectual engagement in that they have a clear understanding of what they are up to in detail and in the bigger scheme of things. Not only do they share a vision of the institute but it is a vision with life in it, one set to keep evolving in good ways..
So there it is, the tree (click on photo to enlarge) as a kind of 'group photo' taken by me as a participant observer here. And I could go on about the way that it spreads out with fresh growth, just as the staff here reach out to people....
What would people see in your business or workplace? And what about imagining 'What kind of a tree is your business?'
